Irina Lazareanu

Kate Moss has called off the search. She has found the model who perfectly incarnates her collaboration with Topshop: Irina Lazareanu. With her rebel bangs, big doe eyes and her rock and roll allure, this top model and friend of Kate's seems to have been created to wear Moss' clothes.

Ironically, this young Romanian was far from having it made when she began working at the age of 16. She arrived on the market at the height of the Gisèle Bündchen era, and her porcelain complexion and 1960s bangs did not match the aesthetic criteria of the moment.

Lazareanu was passionate about music, however. She wrote songs and, against all odds, became friends with a certain Pete Doherty. She wrote lyrics for him and worked with his group, the Babyshambles. This is how she came to know Moss, thanks to whom her modeling career finally took off.

In 2005, Moss was invited to be Vogue's fashion editor for the December issue and chose Lazareanu for a fashion editorial. Everyone was won over by Lazareanu's slender figure, large eyes and sultry face.

She seemed to capture the spirit of the moment with her little bohemian-chic girl look. When Vogue's director saw Lazareanu for the first time, she felt immediately that Lazareanu would become "The Face."

From that moment on, the telephone began to ring off the hook. Lazareanu was photographed for Vogue Italy, for ad campaigns for Anna Molinari, Balenciaga, Just Cavalli, Mulberry, and to walk in Milan, in New York for Marc Jacobs, and in London and Paris for Chanel.

Nicolas Guesquière made her into one of his muses, along with Charlotte Gainsbourg and (French singer) Françoise Hardy, the three of them sharing music and atypical beauty. Meanwhile, Lazareanu came out with an album with Sean Lennon called, "Strange Places."

When Moss had to choose among a multitude of models for the icon of her Topshop collection, she naturally chose her friend. Lazareanu represents all that Moss evokes in her outfits and is the perfect match with the style and spirit of the collection.

For Moss, Lazareanu possesses something unique, between rock and chic. The collection will be available beginning May 8 at Topshop. Barney's director comments that the "Clothes are super cute..." No doubt.
