Agyness Deyn

Her name may remain an enigma, but her face and mischievous rock and roll look have already been engraved in our minds.

Agyness Deyn, barely 21 (even if she looks 25) is one of fashion's rising stars. She has character, as some would say. Her beauty could have been categorized as classical except that she herself reinterpreted it into an unconventional androgynous angel look.

She does not resemble Gisèle Bundchen nor Daria Werbowy with their healthy athletic look, nor the very correct Raquel Zimmerman. Deyn has a different aura, made up of contrasts that she has made her own: angelic yet sexy, mischievous yet sensible, tomboy yet frail. She stands out backstage with her bursts of laughter and incessant consummation of cigarettes.

In addition to her unending legs, curious sparkling eyes, and her charming lanky figure, this young English girl has style. She is the only one who can get away with wearing leopard leggings and oversized Wayfarers and still look sexy. Her look is a curious mix of punk, rock, fun, and an it-bag that never leaves her side.

In just a few seasons, she has become known as one of the most promising models. She just dethroned Kate Moss at Burberry, where she and Lily Cole will be the brand's new faces. These two top models are also taking over other contracts, with Vogue covers and multiple collaborations with the biggest fashion houses.

Their atypical and malleable physiques have won over fashion's headhunters. Vogue Italy, U.K., and U.S. cannot get enough of Mademoiselle Deyn, who seems to be the torchbearer for a new kind of model, less ethereal, more real.

Deyn is also a big music fan and plays in a group called Lucky Knitwear. Her boyfriend is none other than the singer, Josh Hubbard. In other words, fashion is not her only interest - but since she is enjoying herself, she will hang around. Henry Holland, designer and Deyn's friend from before her glory days, chose well when he made her his muse.

Deyn may be the current face of Mulberry or Giles Deacon's icon, but she also has other projects that emphasize her capacity to incarnate diverse characters. Last spring, the CFDA chose her to present a short film on the three top U.S. designers and their creations.

Agyness Deyn is: a carefree freshness, a unique sense of style, immense and limpid eyes, a perfect figure, a good sense of humor and derision. It is not surprising that she is being courted by the biggest. Remember her name, because this year may very well be her year.
