Mathias Lauridsen

It was in 2003 that Mathias Lauridsen was picked up by a talent scout on the streets of his native city, Copenhagen. He thus began his career with the Ford agency in New York, but he probably did not expect to become a star model so quickly.

Relatively unknown to the general public, Lauridsen is clearly successful in the fashion world. Forbes gave him second place among the most successful male models in the world, just after Taylor Fuchs. In the realm of male modeling, rare are those whose beginnings are so promising.

After seven years in the business, this blond, blue-eyed Dane, with his natural elegance and charisma, has charmed the biggest labels in the luxury industry as well as the most famous photographers. In 2004, after only a few seasons on the catwalks, he posed for the Hermès catalog with Richard Avedon as the photographer. In 2007, Gucci made him the icon of their men's perfume, "Gucci 2." The same year, he was shot by Mario Testino for the fall/winter Hugo Boss ad campaign, and Jil Sander, Kenzo, Lacoste and H&M called on him for theirs.

Lauridsen has also appeared in the biggest magazines: l'Uomo, Vogue Paris, Numéro Homme and GQ. While on a shoot for an editorial, he even managed to be photographed by the Karl Lagerfeld.

During the shows, he is sometimes granted the preferred position of opening, e.g. Belstaff et Hermès, and closing, e.g. Valentino et John Galliano. In addition, when the Yves St Laurent decided to replace a traditional show with a video for their winter 2008/2009 collection, they called on Lauridsen to present the whole collection alone.

Lauridsen may be very involved in his career (even if he does claim to take things as they come), but his personal life is more like a secret garden to which only he holds the key. He has revealed only a few details, just enough to pique our curiosity.

For example: he has a scar on his left cheek, is very interested in drawing, never leaves home without his iPod which he uses constantly to listen to Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins, Kings of Leon, Jenny Wilson, among others. He loves to play soccer when he has the time, enjoys nature and animals and takes it easy on technology.
