Kim Noorda

The impish face of Kim Noorda has been seen in many prestigious ad campaigns. Her ultra natural look and perpetual freshness made it easy for her to win over the fashion world. Since 2005, this frail Dutch girl has become one of the most visible top models.

Little known to the general public, Noorda is nevertheless in the good graces of the fashion world. When she is not closing for the Jean Paul Gaultier show, she appears regularly in Vogue, V, Harper's Bazaar and other high-end magazines.

However, this pretty 23 year old never sought fame, which is probably why her name does not ring a bell like other models of her generation, e.g. Erin Wasson and Agyness Deyn. That does not mean that Noorda is less talented or less naturally gifted than her contemporaries. She has simply decided to not make modeling more important than just her job.

When she was discovered in 2003 by Wilma Wakker (a famous Netherlands talent scout), Noorda did not stop her studies, not wanting to lose herself in the new world that now offered itself to her.

She began by showing in Paris and Milan for Chanel, Jil Sander, Prada and Miu Miu -- prestigious labels that, although they did not make Noorda model of the year, found her interesting and promising.

It was not until 2005 that Noorda began to really attract attention from the press and designers. She became the face of the Bulgari perfume "Omnia Crystalline" and opened for Marc By Marc Jacobs in New York. She was also named one of the top 10 models of 2005 by Style.com.

She appeared in one fashion week after another, without becoming one of the after-show socialites. Unlike many of her colleagues, Noorda did not move into a NY loft, nor did she rent a flat in a trendy London neighborhood. She bought her first apartment in Amsterdam, close to her family. As soon as the insanity of the shows subsides, she returns to her family and friends in order to stay connected to reality.

Little by little, the editors in chief of the magazines who can make or break a top model's career, became interested in Noorda. She may be naturally timid but in front of the camera she gives off a special aura made up of irrepressible seduction and ambiguous naïveté, seducing the top photographers. She posed for the stars, e.g. Mark Segal, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Sorrenti, and Bruce Weber.

Weber was especially taken by Noorda whom he met on a Vogue France shoot. He immediately booked her for the APC campaign that he was directing. It was the same for Greg Kadel who, having photographed her for the Numéro Japan cover, fell under her charm and enrolled her in the Georges Rech campaign.

Today, the diaphanous Dutch girl is considered a sure value in the business. Noorda seems to have many beautiful times in front of her as a model, even more so since her image is not overexposed in the tabloids.
