Sandro - Collection Fall/Winter 2010-2011
07 07 2010The Sandro collection for the fall/winter season, with its rock-n-roll details and its preppy-roots/gypsy-chic ambiance, has shown itself to be an interesting patchwork of the influences of the moment. Unsurprisingly, Évelyne Chétrite delivered a pretty accurate selection of what will probably tantalize the up-and-coming fashionistas.

After a month of fashion weeks spent watching the shows, certain images end up imprinting themselves on the unconscious, reveling the main themes of the season. These images are then reinterpreted and mixed into new collections in order to obtain a wardrobe fitting into l'air du temps.
The pertinence of the wardrobe depends on the designer's ability to take inspiration from her sources without copying/pasting; the goal is to offer a more accessible version of what was seen on the catwalks, with respect to the products as well as to the styles.
The Burberry navy blue and shearling, the Rag&Bone mountaineer look, as well as a pinch of Chloé beige are all present (without being repetitive) in Chétrite's collection. In its entirety, the wardrobe is permeated with the famous Sandro touch that has become increasingly recognizable over the seasons.

The Sandrophiles, in search of a trendy yet casual urban mix, regularly find what they want on the label's racks. Alongside the more developed pieces of the season can be found pants that are not necessarily up to date, but that have become a part of the fashionista's lexicon, and are thus brought back regularly to keep them reassured.
Despite several missteps ((most often related to using fur in an untimely way and with a complete lack of subtlety - in particular, the too-obvious Cossack jacket with fur sleeves, the overexposed Isabel Marant-style coat, or the details stripped of any aesthetic value) the Sandro Fall/Winter 2010-2011 offering proved to be more or less satisfying.

Among the numerous pieces offered, the schoolgirl skirt in velvet (giving a chic girly expression to this otherwise risky fabric), the double-breasted blazer, and the cape (in Burberry navy blue making it even more attractive), as well as the the duffle coat in olive and the beige, shearling-lined, casual-trendy 3/4 coat were particularly appreciated.
In the end, between the pieces that flirt with the idea of deceptively fashionable and others that are worth taking the time to linger over, this Sandro collection should be helpful (to a certain extent) in composing the looks for the next season. The navy blue cape with leather detailing may even find itself backordered relatively soon...
