The "Défilés From Paris" Jewelry
05 08 2010With increasing media attention paid to the fashion weeks, certain fashion personalities - who have until now worked in complete anonymity - have seen their market value and popularity shoot through the roof. Anna Wintour, Suzy Menkes and even Carine Roitfeld have become as recognizable as Karl Lagerfeld, to the point that jewelry is now being made in their images.

Before the streetstyle craze reached the (Paris) Jardin des Tuileries, before Style.com called on Scott Schumann and Tommy Ton to shoot the people leaving the fashion shows, the faces of the fashion intelligentsia were only known to the initiated.
The times have changed, however. Since the combined explosion of Twitter and the streetstyle blogs, it is no longer possible to pass through the Chanel show entrance incognito. Abruptly revealed by the formidable Internet spotlight, the behind-the-scenes people in the business were transformed, often in Technicolor, into a crowd of new celebrities.
Some creators, who saw in these new celebrities an opportunity to adapt their support (in this case, clothing or jewelry) in a million different commercial ways, are producing t-shirts with "Fan Club Anna Wintour" printed on them, and others with the effigy of Anna Dello Russo. For their part, the world of costume jewelry is also showing interest in the subject...
This is the case with Nathalie Queyraud who, after having tried designer jewelry, chose to manifest her love for fashion via a line of neck chains named "Défilés From Paris," portraying the Menkes-ian pompadour as well as the Wintour-ian sunglasses.
The label Yazbukey is already transcribing the faces of stars of the fashion world into pendants; however, the Warhol-ian feel of these pendants might not correspond to the desires for more classical looks recently seen on the streets. With their elegant ceramics and delicate traits, Nathalie Queyraud's creations, on the other hand, might prove to match the general trend of the moment.
