The metamorphosis of Emma Watson

06 08 2010

She may have represented the house of Burberry and taken in the rock music festivals, but none of that changed anything - Emma Watson never succeeded in escaping her character, Hermione Granger, until now. Recently, however, the English beauty seems to have found a radical means of breaking with her good little girl image.

Emma Watson

It is not easy to impose one's own style after having grown up under the gaze of millions of viewers, even more so when the Harry Potter saga producers have a vested interest in keeping you resembling the J.K. Rowling heroine. As a result, despite the fact that Watson has turned 20, she remains for many fans completely assimilated into her role as a top student wizard.

However, the last installment of the series has finished filming and the actress no longer has a reason to maintain her look without her character. Free of her obligations, Miss Watson decided to break away from her good girl image by cutting off her hair off. "One Night Only" singer's (George Craig) girlfriend will be sporting a Jean Seberg haircut for a Glamour U.S. shoot, revealing a beauty more charismatic than we had ever imagined.

She may have been wanting to do this for a long time, but her timing may be perfect to say the least. Her symbolic act of strength coincides with her entrance into the movie business, offering directors the possibility of imagining her in roles other than the one she has played for the last 10 years.

We hope that, as was the case for Carrey Mulligan, Watson's boyish haircut will allow her to gain in style and bring her many diverse propositions.

I've always speculated that she really chopped off her locks for her role in 'Perks,' but I'm probably wrong. I like the look on her and happy she felt liberated by doing it.
