The Festival Look
10 08 2010Although Coachella (The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival) is already far behind us, (Paris summer rock festival) Rock en Seine provides another chance for the festival-goers to hone their pretty rocker-bohemian-cool look. Here is a look at a few photos from the recent Osheaga festival in Montreal to give some ideas.

There is nothing like a hip music festival to observe how the native wildlife tames the latest trends. Although a good number of the females go around in ensembles that are more about sex than fashion, others cleverly succeed in creating a relaxed yet fashionable look.
Festival fashion trend #1: visible lingerie. This trend seems to have evolved towards a slightly less risqué, but still trendy dress code. The idea is to wear a lace tank top under a loose cotton one in order to create a casual, relaxed look while keeping the boudoir feel. This ultra fresh duo (here seen in white and raspberry) is a good example of a look that works better than darker color lace that can easily appear vulgar.

Festival fashion trend #2: the hat. After a despotic rule on the well-dressed heads of the rock addicts, the fedora is beating a retreat in the face of a round felt hat that is more in the 70s feel.
Also, far from being head-to-toe total-look enthusiasts (who have a tendency of losing their style-soul), the Osheaga festival-ites made the wise decision to match the soft felt hat with Ray-Ban Clubmasters (rather than with a pair of Prada-esque butterfly sunglasses), making for a much more interesting mix.

Festival fashion trend #3: body art. Fashionistas may generally prefer nude makeup for this kind of event, but they also demonstrated an infatuation with tattoo art as evidenced by their body painting.
At the end of summer, they are more than ever susceptible to adorning their barely-dressed bodies with ephemeral designs of all kinds, from fake Louis Vuitton tattoos to tribal paintings - and maybe some Chanel decals if they can find them in stock.
