Jil Sander x Uniqlo - Fall/Winter 2010-2011
16 08 2010Since 2009, the union between the Japanese Uniqlo and the minimalist Jil Sander has proven to be happy one, to the point that their latest collection is anticipated with as much enthusiasm as Alexander Wang's or Proenza Schouler's. For fall/winter 2010-2011, the +J line offers several brilliantly executed pieces, with a timeless appeal and a generously affordable price.

Sometimes, the collision between l'air du temps and a designer's style can render the creations sublime. This is particularly the case with the +J collection by Jil Sander for Uniqlo, which perfectly summarizes the latest catwalk rules.
It should be noted that this season, Jil Sander's minimalist style (which had its moment of glory in the 90s) has everything it takes: its DNA ideally frames the desires for pragmatic cleanliness and classical basics that have become so en vogue recently.
The perfectly fitted shirts and the intelligently cut suit jackets will certainly find their places in those wardrobes hungry for chic basics, but it is the nylon-wool blend coats that pulled our attention.

Playing with the volumes that are making a comeback, these coats may provide a little fashion miracle. Whether it be the navy blue pea coat (perfectly shortened) or the camel overcoat with its trench touches, these Jil Sander coats will be the perfect consolation prize for those not able to offer themselves a Burberry or a Michael Kors.
We may not particularly like Raquel Zimmermann's dangerously sharp and curiously colored hairstyle as seen in the +J campaign, but we will nevertheless take note of the new collection's arrival date in the boutiques in order to not miss out one these two basics must-haves.
Collection available starting October 7
