Comptoir des Cotonniers - Fall/Winter 2010-2011

16 08 2010

For its fall/winter 2010-2011 campaign, Comptoir des Cotonniers swapped their famous anonymous duos for a little blogosphere moment. Posing this time is the pretty Pandora - aka Louise Ebel -with her mother. It should be said that the current 70s aura fits the young internet muse like a glove.

Wearing a chapeau à la Kenzo and a Mulberry-inspired satchel, the Comptoir des Cotonniers girl knows that it is time to go retro without forgetting to add a good dose of casual attitude and an urban twist.

Other than the accessories that would not been out of place on Annie Hall, the wardrobe is based on pieces with military references, finely bohemian touches and boyish traits; all of which creates looks that are simultaneously elegant and nonchalant.

A bit large, the trench can be worn unbuttoned over a thin silk shirt in either cyan or barman's vest. As for the jeans (skinny or wide cut), they are extremely faded, whereas the short jackets (Sahara style or aviator) are warmed up with fur or shearling collars.

In a more chic-adventurer look, she appears in a light khaki suit or a large, masculine cut outfit reminding us of heroes of another decade.

She might often be seen in more androgynous ensembles, but she never forgets to add a feminine touch. Corduroy pants go well with a transparent blouse, and a long military coat in thick wool is worn with a pair of pumps. As for the bomber jacket, it is matched with a flower print chiffon dress.

As for details and accessories aimed at anchoring this collection in the moment, the Comptoir des Cotonniers designers vacillate between profitable lucidity and obvious copies.

The suede elbow patches on the thin Prussian blue cardigans, the vintage-looking mini bags and the trendy soft felt hats and the knitted scarves are nice but the "wannabe" Chloé platform low boots trimmed in shearling are less convincing. Also disappointing were the bags resembling the English label Mulberry a bit too much (as seen here and here).

This being said, we like the "I Love, I Hate" images of the season, in which the looks illustrate well the famous 70s trend.
