APC - Fall/Winter 2010-2011

After having spent 25 years constantly reinventing the idea of the basic (without making an abstraction of l'air du temps), Jean Touitou seems to have solved the problem of the ideal wardrobe. This season, the APC dressing room proves to be particularly uncluttered, casual and pragmatic.

As a result of allowing ourselves to be influenced by the trends, we sometimes forget that style is not about nice trimmings nor trendy details. Well-tailored volumes, natural materials and audacious color combinations can, by themselves, create a strong identity for those who prefer them.

While the fashion of the moment is crawling with pieces to reinterpret, ensembles to brighten up and others to calm down, we may find ourselves easily tempted by the tranquility offered by pieces that are sufficient in and of themselves. It is precisely in this spirit that the passionate and dedicated Touitou works to put the basic into the first row of must-have's.

Once again, APC has what we need to spend the next several months feeling confident that we have made the right choices, thrilled to not have lost ourselves in the rut of disposable trends, and convinced of having an irreproachable allure. With a pair of red wine velvet shorts and a boat neck pullover, trench coat and moccasins, and even a 60s mini coat and ballet flats, we will be prepared to run into any of Tommy Ton's muses without blushing.

It should be said that while giving off a look that says, "do not touch," APC understands the happy medium between of-the-moment and timelessness that make us envy girls like Suzanne Koller (fashion director of the magazine Self Service).

We may be ready to reserve the velvet pants as well as the knitted pea coat and the Bordeaux French sailor sweater (both in the men's section), but we will willingly make the trip to the boutique to try on the cognac boots and other suede moccasins that will perfectly accompany any of the upcoming season's looks.
