The 3/4 Coat according to Prada

07 09 2010

When trying to establish a relatively precise list of the must-have's currently en vogue, it generally suffices to flip through the different fashion editorials in the magazines and count the number of appearances of a particular piece. When the same piece is found simultaneously in the pages of diverse editions of Vogue, ELLE or Harper's Bazaar, it would be highly advisable to learn more about it.

3/4 Coat

During the last Prada show, the 3/4 coat worn by top model Barbara Palvin seemed to have literally hit the fashion editors over the head. Many of them showed it in their September issues, attracting the attention of their readers who turn to them for answers to their fashion questions.

At a time when numerous fashionistas, unable to choose between the different hits of the new season (notably, the Burberry Prorsum bomber jacket, the Céline 3/4 coat, the Rag&Bone wools, and even the Max Mara overcoat) are becoming depressed, Miuccia Prada's boutiques may hold what they need to keep them satisfied for awhile.

It is true that by bringing together 60s influences, classical reminiscences, the color camel, a touch of fur and cozy wool on the same piece, the Italian woman has a veritable concentration of pure bred trends, perfectly epitomizing l'air du temps.

3/4 Coat

Alone, this simple neo 3/4 coat could update a complete wardrobe. Simply trusting in its camel color as well as its Mad Men look is enough to promote any basic chic ensemble up a rank.

To summarize, we may trust in Miuccia Prada, but it seems we are also now within our rights to demand all-in-one pieces that, in addition to being sufficient in and of themselves, will prevent us from finding ourselves faced with conflicting choices. There is nothing left to do than search out a shearling bordeaux 3/4 coat, a camel-colored wool-lined glossy fur bomber jacket, or even a navy blue cape with a wool hood and leather detailing.

In case the search is unsuccessful, we still have the option of sacrificing our wool stockings on the Miuccia Prada alter.
