Oversized Pullover by Starstyling

04 11 2010

Given the success of the Wool and the Gang knitting kits and the interest in Lilly Marthe Ebener's creations, it seems that the fashionista has never wanted a cozy, large-knit pullover to cocoon in while playing with the current cozy trends more than now.

Regarding large-knit pullovers, a quick stop at Marc Jacobs, Prada, or even Zara will suffice to understand that their fashion value is on the rise. It would be a shame to limit this kind of clothing to its basic rustic expression. Knits have so many creative possibilities that it would be wrong to limit ourselves to the classic fisherman's sweater, especially when some labels are reinterpreting the knit in unexpected and exciting ways.

By associating the sweatshirt format with a traditional knitting technique, and mixing in a sparkling thread with the wool, Berlin designers Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried of Starstyling have given birth to a new hybrid. Their creation is simultaneously in step with the times for the fashionista and audacious enough to be noticed among the wave of knits currently rolling over the prêt-a-porter collections.

With its simultaneously chic, street-smart and conceptual allure, this experimental pullover has quickly proven to be able to play the main role in a variety of looks.

Worn with a pair of opaque black tights and coal black sneakers, it takes on a streetwear look, whereas associated with a prewashed skinny blue jean and black platform low boots with open toes, it can go casual smart. Finally, matched with black biker shorts, thick gray socks bunched around the calves and clay dark gray brogues, it takes on a pretty boyish stile.

The cut, yes. The glitter??? Looks a bit too 80s for me -- and makes to pullover look too chunky.
