How To: Kate Bosworth

22 11 2010

There are those girls who, seemingly without trying, succeed in being fashionable by coming up with looks perfectly in step with our time, regardless of the season. Kate Bosworth is surely one of them...

Kate Bosworth

Whether stepping out of the house or on location for her current film, actress Kate Bosworth has recently provided us with a perfect example of a cool wardrobe sans effort.

When last October, Bosworth decided to focus on good color matching by wearing caramel with khaki, she did not instantly transform into a carbon copy of a Céline or Dries Van Noten look. She creates looks that are more girl-next-door than it-girl by pairing low-profile boots with bag that, even if it is Proenza Schouler, does not necessarily go with the rest of her ensemble.

When she does take on one of the season's must-have's (e.g., the below-the-knee, full skirt), it is with the same nonchalance soaked in bohemian girly attitude that she succeeds in rendering her look fresh and new-feminine by adding a short pullover in a neutral color as well as a sensible pair of pumps. She finished off her look with a chignon worn high on the head, making the whole ensemble desirable when on paper it looked a bit like something granny might have worn.

He ability to find the happy medium between fashion must-have, trend and naturalness on a daily basis does not prevent us from devouring the slightly more efforted looks worn by her character in BFF & Baby, now being filmed.

Seeing a snapshot of her wearing a striped t-shirt (still one of the best ways to work an Audrey Hepburn look) with a light-blue, boyfriend-ish ¾ jean and ultra contemporary pumps, we cannot help but archive the photo for next spring.

Fortunately, we do not necessarily have to wait for the return of better weather to try some of the BFF & Baby costume ideas. The look composed of a pair of brown derbies, carrot-cut navy blue pants and a flowing shirt in mocha can be perfect for right now - under the condition that a soft, large knit vest is added to it.
