The New Adventures of Alexa Chung
29 11 2010After having sent shivers through the hearts of the fashionistas with her ensembles for the show "It's On with Alexa Chung" (now cancelled), the energetic Londonian will take on the American small screen with a new show officially dedicated to fashion.

It would seem that the most sensible of the Brit girls has finally become addicted to her role as an American television presenter. After having worked for MTV for two seasons, the Madewell label icon has given in once again to the lures of the small screen. Her new show, "Thrift America," is more like Road TV than a studio show, and will not have a lot in common with what she has done until now.
Familiar with Kardashian-like shows, the PBS channel seems to have decided to change its image. They even called on Maya Singer (Style.com) to create the concept of their new show. Although it is TV-reality, it does have a strong dose of hype-itude, capable of appealing to a wide group of female viewers. Singer chose to surf the second-hand store wave by following the pilgrimage of an enlightened fashionista, Alexa Chung, as she travels from one vintage boutique to another, from Nashville to Paris to London.
The combination seems to have the potential to generate a good viewing audience. Between Chung's looks (capable of winning over a majority of the fashionistas) and her shopping pointers for finding interesting pieces at a low price, this petite Englishwoman could well become America's darling as of next summer (when the first episode is set to air).
We also hope that the show will have a side effect of slightly modifying the style criteria of the young Americans - that they might stop seeing Kimora or Kim Kardashian as fashion icons and start preferring the bohemian/school girl chic looks of Miss Chung.
