Pamela Love - Spring/Summer 2011
30 11 2010Introductions are no longer needed for Pamela Love, the New Yorker whose somewhat esoteric, tribal creations seduced Olivier Zahm and overshadowed others like Delfina Delettrez. Far from being a flash in the pan, her continued success has made it possible for her to continue to create fascinating collections based on her unusual influences.

This season, the eagle claws and steel cord crucifixes have been put aside in favor of tribal beliefs that confer protective qualities on the jewelry.
The engraved wood slice pendants are intended to protect against the evil eye; the 3-triangle rings with sapphires are good for our charkas; and the quartz necklaces are designed to heal certain conditions.
By creating a mystical glow around her silver, brass and bronze charms, Love reinforces her image as an esoteric designer. This being said, while some of the pieces are meant to give spiritual protection to the wearer, others resemble knuckle rings more than shamanic talismans.

The pointed rings that could easily put out an eye, or the hexagonal bracelets that are more s-m than protective, and the bird-beak rings that would scratch anyone who does not maintain minimum safe distance would all be difficult to wear. We suggest leaving these pieces quietly in their jewelry case if you do not want to find yourself accused of accidental injury.
This being said, do not lose hope: the rest of the Pamela Love collection, bringing together pieces that are as attractive as they are - relatively -- harmless (as seen here and here), should once again win over the fashionistas...
