The Perfect Pant According to Céline
06 12 2010Those still searching for the ideal pair of jeans may find a solution at Céline whose new mini-line of 5 pants, all in classy minimalism and timeless cuts, is due to come out mid-December.

As soon as she took over Céline, Phoebe Philo set out to bring back the concept of the essential. The former Chloé creative director began building a wardrobe with chic sportswear inclinations whose purity, efficiency and timelessness, far from sterile frills and trendy details, literally enchanted women, leading them to envision a fashion more perennial than ephemeral.
Philo took yet another step forward in her quest for the ultimate wardrobe where rights are only given to coats with a chiseled cut, perfectly tailored shirts and Helmut Lang-ian dresses; she created 5 pants that should, according to her (and Phoebe we trust), fulfill all of her clients' demands.
Céline's artistic director developed her vision of the ideal pant via a set of 5 different cuts, whose materials were carefully chosen to create the best draping possible.

Included in the set is a pleated model, a wide cut, a ¾, a high-waisted flare and a so-called classical cigarette cut. Each model appears to be the result of thorough research on what fits a woman's body well.
In addition to their theoretically perfect cuts, these pants, due to their simplicity, also offer the advantage of being able to fit into many looks, from effortless to smart to new-classical.
While waiting for the arrival in the boutiques of these supposed ideal pants, we will be hoping that Phoebe Philo will decide to extend her concept to include jackets, shirts, dresses and other key pieces of our wardrobes.
