Marion Cotillard, The Hair Question
06 12 2010For those used to the red carpets, choosing what to wear is of the utmost importance; however, it is often forgotten that the chosen hairstyle should befit the dress. For some, this choice has proven to be a dangerous one...

As opposed to other actresses of her generation, Marion Cotillard has not yet mastered the photo call. She may be the icon of the Lady Dior saga (consequently, a member of the highest spheres of fashion), but this seems to have no effect on her official appearances, which are unfortunately rarely synonymous with big fashion moments. The fault, however, does not lie in the haute couture dresses, whether created by Jean Paul Gaultier or by John Galliano.
To tell the truth, it seems that Cotillard still lacks that little fashion something that would take her from being simply pretty to sublime. This is not to say that she is afraid - on the contrary, as she searches for her own style, she is willing to try everything and its opposite, at the risk of confusing the issue even more.
This goes as well for her multiple hairstyle experiments. She seems to be guided by an irrepressible desire to try everything in order to discover what looks best on her. Perhaps she should limit her experiments to the intimate setting of her favorite hairdresser's salon rather than offer them first to the photographers?...

What can be said about the tight curls that she wore when accompanying Guillaume Canet at the Marrakech festival, or about the bangs that weighed down her face for the premiere of "Les Petits Mouchoirs?" it seems that Cotillard has not realized that the hairstyles haloing her face do not suit her, as apposed to those that reveal the face, e.g. the audacious, but in the end successful banana that she wore to the BAFTA Awards.
We salute her undeniable courage when it comes to style, but we are at a loss as to how to advise her about her choices in experimental hair/simple ensemble duos or their opposites.
