Alexander Wang Boots - Spring/Summer 2011

07 12 2010

Whereas the latest Alexander Wang show may have left us somewhat unsatisfied, the Little Prince of New York Hype has once again succeeded in turning things around via a shoe collection that will no doubt please the fashionistas.

Alexander Wang Boots

Between the white paint hastily applied to the models' hair, and the half-sportswear/half-Dries Van Noten wardrobe, the spring/summer 2011 season will more than likely not be written into the annals of history of the house of Wang.

However, while we might not be fans of the watery-green aluminum foil sweatshirt jackets, this does not mean that our summers will be spent in complete absence of Alexander Wang pieces.

The boots created by this young designer, mixing sexy originality and a boyish touch, have the right dose of roots and urban needed to win over the shoe addicts.

Until now, Wang has played with open toe models; this season, he is taking this idea a bit further by revealing the heel rather than the toes, or both at the same time.

In the first case, the result is a laced boot, a bit on the massive side, uniting 2 leather textures and playing with a "crest" at the back of the heel. High-heeled and apparently easy to wear, this shoe comes in several colors, from Khaki to fawn to peach pink, and will go perfectly with numerous tomboy outfits that will undoubtedly be seen everywhere next spring.

The only imperative for wearing this kind of shoe - take care of your heels so that they can be shown off.

The second model is to be tried with a bit more caution. The association of a relatively low heel, a platform sole and openings at the heel and toes give this boot a slightly convoluted allure, that may not, in the end, flatter the silhouette.

The last model is horrid! The heel/platform combo looks clunky and at least in this photo, the leather looks cheap... Alexander Wang may be set up to have an off season...
