Lily Cole, a new beginning?

13 12 2010

Whereas the entire planet is fantasizing about Christina Hendricks in Mad Men, and the Pirelli calendar has invited Julianne Moore to appear in its 2011 edition, and as a general rule, redheads have never been so popular, Lily Cole has surprised the fashion world by exchanging her flamboyant mane for long brown tresses.

Lily Cole

She who was named model of the year by the British Fashion Awards in 2004 just took everyone by surprise by abandoning what had until now been one of her major assets: her recognizable red mane. It is as if the she has had enough of her fiery curls to which she owes (at least in part), however, her dizzying ascension in the modeling world.

Her 2008 appearance in Playboy made headlines, yet Cole seems to be distancing herself more and more from her modeling career. In fact, she does not hide the fact that she would love to dedicate herself entirely to acting.

She can be seen in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus or in Marilyn Manson's Phantasmagoria, but neither film has really succeeded in launching the career of this aspiring actress. Today, it is still in the fashion world that Cole's strange beauty is better valued.

As the darling of Jean Paul Gaultier - who chose her to close his last fall/winter show for Hermès - and sought after by several magazines, Cole still has a certain fashion value. So why would she risk damaging her capital when her acting career has not yet taken off?

In any case, none of this seems to worry Cole who, probably won over by the May 2010 ELLE photos (in which she appeared as a stormy brunette), has decided to radically change her image. To be continued...
