Nike Premium Print Pack

22 12 2010

Always seeking to relook their iconic models, Nike is offering an unusual and eco-responsible, limited edition shoe for 2011 that should make those fashionistas who have piles of magazines under the beds particularly happy...

Nike Premium Print Pack

After the macaroon episode in which the comma-symboled sneaker took on pastel colors in homage of Ladurées famous sweets, today, Nike is taking on the concept of recycling to stay hype. Following the example set by Uniqlo (who take back our old clothes to make new ones) and APC (who take back their clients' used jeans to offer them a second life by customizing them), Nike has decided to renew a product that can quickly become encumbering: used magazines.

These magazines, after having been consumed by their readers, are often reduced to colored strips via a paper shredder. These millions of paper strips are now being sown together and covered in plastic in order to create a new "raw material" capable of taking the place of leather and fabric.

This material, applied to models like Nike Blazer, Air Rift and Flash Macro, gives them a unique coating (the random assembly of the paper strips guarantees original graphic compositions) that should win over the brand's aficionados as well as the fashionistas looking for a not-so-ordinary sneaker.

Available in France as of January 1st, 2011
